A’s Spring Training Likely Moving to Mesa
The Mesa, Ariz., city council approved a memorandum of understanding of an agreement that will bring the A’s to Mesa for at least 20 years. Oakland has trained at Phoenix Municipal Stadium since 1984, but their lease expires at the end of 2014 and the team couldn’t reach an agreement about upgrading the ballpark. Read More

“Field of Dreams” Site to Become Youth Sports Facility
The “Field of Dreams,” a nearly 200-acre parcel of Iowa land made famous in the 1989 Kevin Costner film of the same name, will be developed into a youth sports facility. The site will be a sprawling complex built specifically for youth sports, including 24 baseball diamonds and 60 clubhouses. Read More

FieldTurf Announces Baseball Winners
FieldTurf announced the winners of the seventh annual FieldTurf Baseball Awards for 2012. Award-winners were named in four categories, including two NCAA Coach of the Year winners, one NCAA Team of the Year winner, and the MLB Team of the Year. Read More

Agent Blames Field for Player Injury
Seattle Seahawks defensive end Chris Clemons suffered a knee injury that is believed to be a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Clemons’ agent blamed the "crappy" conditions at FedEx Field for contributing to the injury. Clemons was wearing 3/4-inch cleats to get footing on the turf. Read More

New Mexico Park Achieves Certification
The synthetic turf field installed at Taos Eco Park in 2010 has met the rigorous qualifications for the FIFA 2 Star Recommended level of performance for the third consecutive year. Taos Eco Park, located in Taos, N.M., is now the first field in the United States to receive the FIFA 2 Star status for three straight years. Read More

Ft. Lauderdale Dedicates Renovated Park
Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., city officials and community leaders re-dedicated Joseph C. Carter Park after it received a major make over. The $3 million renovation included new synthetic turf for the football field, a state of the art eight-lane track, enhanced seating and scoreboard.

Finley Stadium to Upgrade
Repairs are set to be made to the synthetic surface at Finley Stadium, the home field for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s soccer team and the Chattanooga Football Club. When the turf was installed in 2005, it had a sand base. Over time, water drainage created the depressions in the sand. Read More

Rink Installation Begins at Hersheypark Stadium
Rink installation began for the Capital BlueCross AHL Outdoor Classic between the Hershey Bears and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on January 20, which will headline a series of hockey-related events at Hersheypark Stadium this month. The goal is to have a playable rink ready by January 17. Read More
