Baize Named Chairman of STC Board of Directors

New Turf at Parkview Field
The Motz Group is installing 89,000 square feet of blue grass turf at Parkview Field. The former field had to be replaced because the team discovered Poa annua soon after the sod was first laid ahead of the TinCaps' 2009 debut season. Replacing the turf will cost about $140,000. Read More

High Lead Levels Shut Down UNH Field
The University of New Hampshire has shut down an athletic field with artificial turf because of high lead levels. University officials say Memorial Field was shut down immediately after the school was advised that the turf had degraded to the point where measurable lead levels were detected in dust samples. Architect Suggests Dome for Browns
In reaction to incoming Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam's recent intimations that he might consider building a dome over the lakefront stadium, architecture and engineering firm Ralph Tyler Companies has suggested a free-standing, glazed geodesic dome, 100 feet wide and 380 feet high. KC Grounds Crew to Host Homers for Hunger
Royals Charities and the Kansas City Royals Grounds Crew are hosting the first-ever Home Runs for Hunger event at Kauffman Stadium on Saturday, November 10. Fans who donate canned food items or make a cash donation will have the opportunity to take batting practice on the field. Read More

New AstroTurf Practice Field Coming to NDSU
The North Dakota State athletic department finalized a deal with AstroTurf that will give the football program another artificial surface practice field. The $350,000 agreement will be funded by the Team Makers booster group. The cost includes installation, which is expected to take about two weeks to complete. Read More

Beavers Field Gets New Infield
About 28,000 square feet of synthetic turf is being installed on the infield and around home plate at Beavers Field in Lancaster, Pa. The outfield will remain natural grass. Officials expect to be able to host more than 200 games per year with the new infield surface. Read More

Oklahoma Town Building Four Fields
The city of Owasso, Okla., is pouring more than $1 million into the construction of four new youth baseball fields. The base bid of $527,723 will cover construction of the baseball fields, Langford said. The remaining funds will go toward field lighting and irrigation, a warm-up area and replacing existing asphalt with concrete. Read More
