Reliant Stadium Gets Removable Turf
Next month, SMG-Reliant Park will receive a $1.2 million artificial turf system that will be used for non-Texans games at Reliant Stadium. The field could be used this fall for high school playoff games. The turf and the installation machinery will likely be stored in a warehouse or in the Astrodome when it is not in use at the stadium. Youth sports players in Massachusetts are passing around insect repellent and clearing out of town fields before dusk as a growing number of communities fall under heightened alert for mosquitoes infected with Eastern equine encephalitis, a deadly virus. New School Fields Already Need Repairs
The Moon Area School District in Pennsylvania has discovered a number of problems with its new baseball and softball complex. Drainage troubles on both fields, fading and peeling paint on the baseball dugout, and the misplacement of foul poles are some of the concerns outlined in a 20-item list. Read More

Binghamton University Unveils New Fields
Binghamton University in New York celebrated the opening of its renovated baseball and tennis facilities as well as a new softball field. The $5 million project began last August. Upgrades to the baseball field include new grass, an irrigation and drainage system, professional-grade infield dirt and stadium seating for up to 464 spectators. Read More

San Siro Stadium to install FieldTurf
FieldTurf artificial turf will soon be installed at one of the most famous soccer stadiums in the world. San Siro Stadium in Milan, home to A.C. Milan and Inter F.C., will install FieldTurf on all the practice and surrounding surfaces in the stadium. San Siro has hosted an impressive list of world-class events, including the 1990 World Cup. Parkview Field Replacing Grass
New grass will be coming to Parkview Field in Fort Wayne, Ind., next month. The grass at the downtown ball field is the original grass that was laid down in the fall of 2008. Currently Poa annua covers more than 50 percent of the field. The new grass is expected to be rolled out and in place by mid-October. Read More

Minneapolis High School Opens New Field
Washburn High School in Minneapolis has dedicated their new synthetic turf football field. The field is also used by soccer and lacrosse teams. This was a $1.2 million project, $200,000 was donated by the Minnesota Vikings, $220,000 came from a Hennepin County grant. Read More
