Riley Park Receives SCSTMA Award
The South Atlantic League Sports Turf Managers Association has named Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park in Charleston, S.C., as the league's "Professional Baseball Field of The Year." It marks the third time in four years that Riley Park and Groundskeeper Mike Williams, the former New York Mets and Tampa Bay Rays' head groundskeeper, has acquired the award. Read More

Oregon School Unveils Black Field
Oregon's West Salem High School recently unveiled the nation's first outdoor black turf football field. Nicknamed "The Black Hole," the Titans' new field was completely paid for by fundraising efforts. The black turf cost about $150,000 less than green turf, thanks to savings from not having to use dyed turf. Read More

MSU Field Renovations Approved
The MSU Board of Trustees approved a plan for an $18 million expansion and renovation to the north end zone of Spartan Stadium. The proposed construction plan would renovate and add facilities to the stadium that are currently outdated and inadequate. The news comes a week after MSU unveiled its brand new $10 million scoreboards. Read More

Yellow Jacket Stadium Honored
Brooks Conover Field at Yellow Jacket Stadium, Cleburne, Texas, has been named the recipient of the Fields of Excellence Award from Pioneer Athletics, one of 11 presented throughout the state. The field was one of 91 selected for the award nationwide; there were 250 entries overall. Read More

Turf Study to Monitor Runoff
A new turf runoff facility has been built at the Texas A&M Urban Ecology Field Laboratory, and a team of Texas A&M AgriLife Research turf specialists is testing and comparing runoff from plots with no fertilizer to those receiving several different nitrogen sources. The study is sponsored by The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company. Read More

The Sports Turf Managers Association's President-Elect Martin Kaufman, CSFM, has resigned from its Board of Directors effective today, due to a change in his membership category. Kaufman recently became employed by Turf Managers LLC, which moved him from a sports turf manager into the commercial category. Read More
