Vikings Stadium Bill Signed
Gov. Mark Dayton signed off on a hard-fought agreement to build the Minnesota Vikings a $975 million stadium at the downtown Minneapolis site of the team's current home, the Metrodome. The Vikings hope to move into their new home by 2016, and will sign a 30-year lease to play there. The team will pay just under half the cost of the project. Read More

Youth Baseball Field to be Named for VandenBerg
A Cedarburg, Wis., baseball field will be named for Gary VandenBerg in tribute to the long-time head groundskeeper at County Stadium and Miller Park. The Milwaukee Brewers and the Brewers Community Foundation will give the town $12,500 to finance improvements at the field under a naming rights agreement. Read More

Marlins Won't Move Fences
The hard-to-reach outfield fences at the Miami Marlins' new ballpark will remain that way. The outfield is substantially bigger than at the Marlins' former home, with power alleys of 386 feet in left-center field and 392 in right-center. In the first 15 games at the ballpark, more than a dozen flyballs were caught on the warning track. Read More

BBVA Compass Stadium's Size Questioned
Some people are questioning the small pitch at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston. Major League Soccer prefers teams make the pitch 75 yards wide by 120 yards long, but BBVA Compass Stadium is 70 yards wide by 115 yards long. The stadium's pitch dimensions were established by two-time MLS Cup-winning coach Dominic Kinnear. Read More

NFL Donates Super Bowl Practice Turf
The NFL donated its Super Bowl practice turf to Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis as part of the league's legacy project. The turf was previously at the University of Indianapolis where it was used by the Super Bowl champions the New York Giants. The turf is expected to be fully installed by the end of July. Read More

Citi Field to Host 2013 All-Star Game
Citi Field will be the site of the 2013 All-Star Game, the first time the Mets have hosted the event since 1964. The last All-Star Game played in New York was in 2008, the final season for the old Yankee Stadium. The Futures game, as well as a celebrity softball event, will take place the Sunday before the game. Read More

UR Fields Getting $4.1 Million Makeover
Renovations to University of Rochester's baseball field, replacement of Fauver Stadium lighting and the enhancement of playing areas near Hill Court are slated to be completed this summer in time for students returning for the fall semester. Towers Field will receive synthetic turf, new fencing and lighting to extend playing times.

Light Collapse Threat at Atlantic City Stadium
A light post at the old Surf Stadium in Atlantic City could be a threat to collapse. An Emergency Management spokesman confirmed that one of six light poles had an integrity issue and could collapse like another light pole did last month. The city is reaching out to contractors to get estimates on the cost of the repairs. Read More
