Turface Presents Field of the Year Award
Turface Athletics honored Jesuit High School's Paul Straub Field at Hyer Family Park in Tampa, Fla., as the Baseball Coaches Association "National Field of the Year." The 500-seat stadium was selected over other finalists from Arizona, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon and Virginia. The school will receive $400 for maintenance supplies, along with one ton of Turface material.

University of Tampa Building New Stadium
The University of Tampa (UT) will begin construction on the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex, a multipurpose field and 1,450-seat stadium. The artificial turf field will be the new home of the UT men's and women's lacrosse teams, numerous intramurals and various sporting events. The project is tentatively slated for completion by December 2012. Read More

New Fields Open on Former Site of Yankee Stadium
The new Macombs Dam Park ball fields, built on the former site of Yankee Stadium, have opened. The fields boast lush Kentucky bluegrass and plaques to honor baseball history. Frieze panels from the old stadium overlook the three fields, and a blue outline marks the historic Bronx Bombers diamond. The park will be open to all when not under maintenance or use by teams that pay for permits. Read More

Catskill Little League Gets a New Infield
Catskill Little League received a delivery of supplies required to reconstruct the diamond’s infield. The materials were given to them on behalf of the Tri-City ValleyCats, Single-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. The ValleyCats donated 50 tons of infield dirt, which will be used on the pitcher’s mound and batting area. The first official game at the new field is scheduled to take place April 21. Read More

Riverbank State Park Gets Repairs
Riverbank State Park in Harlem is getting a new artificial turf field, new boiler and gymnasium floor thanks to a $5.2 million from the state's New York Works program. Parks officials describe Riverbank as the only park of its type in the Western Hemisphere. The $100 million facility is built atop the North River Wastewater Treatment Plant. Read More

Oregon State Replaces Surfaces
Oregon State University is replacing the playing/practice surfaces at Reser Stadium and the Tommy Prothro Football Complex with FieldTurf. Both will be completed in time for the start of the 2012 football season. The existing Reser Stadium FieldTurf surface has been in place since 2005. A permanent logo and end zone graphics will be installed prior to 2013. Read More

Bridgeton High Dedicates New Field
A ceremony at Bridgeton High School in New Jersey marked the completion of a $4.5 million renovation, a project that was six years in the making. The original stadium was completed in 1940. The home of the Bulldogs is officially Jim Hursey Stadium at Robert C. Thompson Family Sports Complex. The field s lined for football, field hockey and soccer, and will be lit. Read More

Maryville High to Get New Turf, Jumbotron
Plans to put new turf on the football field at Maryville High School in Tennessee are moving forward. The Maryville city council voted to approve the new artificial turf on the football field on second reading; the new turf is expected to cost about $400,000 to $500,000. School officials hope to have the field work completed by July 1. Read More
