xxxValent and Nufarm join forces
Valent U.S.A. Corp. and Nufarm Americas Inc. have announced that Valent has entered into an agreement that appoints Nufarm as the exclusive distributor of its branded products for professional turf, ornamental and aquatic uses in the United States; the change is effective February 16. Under the agreement, Valent and Nufarm will effectively combine the product portfolios of the two companies into one broad portfolio that will be sold by Nufarm in the U.S. and will feature Nufarm’s leading product offerings such as Escalade and MillenniumTM Ultra Herbicides and its Cleary line of fungicides, along with Valent’s best-in-class brands such as Safari Insecticide, Arena Insecticide, SureGuard and Clipper Herbicides and Tourney Fungicide. xxxHRI awards $400,000 in grants
The Horticultural Research Institute has announced it will grant $400,000 for 16 new projects intended to find solutions for hort production, pest management, environmental stewardship, and business and marketing challenges. Projects range from a study of the role of plant brands in consumer preferences to research on the effects of multiple stressors on pest damage to common nursery trees. Read more>

2014 International Waterlily and Water Gardening Society SymposiumIWGS Symposium scheduled for Denver
The 2014 International Waterlily and Water Gardening Society Symposium is scheduled for August 14 to 16 in and around the Mile High City. Denver Botanic Gardens, Hudson Gardens and the Colorado Water Garden Society will serve as local hosts. Attendees may participate in the annual CWGS Water Blossom Festival at Denver Botanic Gardens, which will include guided tours, demonstrations, public voting for the IWGS New Waterlily Competition entries, and a talk given by the symposium’s keynote speaker.
